Hi Brad,

I thought that I would share with you what crossfit has done for my daughter Jesse. Over the last several weeks, Jess has been going to an Olympic lifting gym in Santa Fe and has been working with a personal trainer. I received an email from the trainer this morning. In the email, he said that it was very obvious that she has received good coaching and that her athleticism was apparent. The trainer also said that Jesse’s involvement with CFCV is helping set the stage  for a lifelong commitment to health and fitness.  Apparently, Jess has been speaking highly of you and your coaches.  I personally wanted to thank you for helping me instill these values in Jess. She has witnessed first hand what you have helped me accomplish and she is learning that it is just as important for her.  It has become apparent to me that Jess has made the same commitment to the crossfit lifestyle that I have and I am overjoyed to be able to do it with her. You and your staff are amazing and I really do appreciate all you do.

I started crossfit intially to improve my skiing. Well, after 9-months of being at the box I got out for a few powder days these past couple of weeks.  I skied like a hero the first day, but was skeptical because of how good the conditions were.  The 2nd day though, I was convinced, my time spent at CFCV was paying off huge.  Those 2 days probably rank in my top 5 ski days ever in terms of my performance and just plain fun and all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you.  Thank you for creating such a great place to come and workout.  Thank you for challenging me and pushing me further than I am willing push myself at times.  Thank you for being so passionate about what you do, I know it motivates me and I’m sure it motivates others.  The irony is, I almost didn’t go ski the 2nd day because I didn’t want to miss another workout. My name is Phil I have been involved as a CrossFit athlete since January of 2010.  I am 45 years old and have attempted to keep fit my entire adult life, having successes and then a string of failures,  I have struggled using programs that were less than adequate.  As a current member of the United States Navy Reserve, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 17 (Seabees) I have attempted to maintain and be involved in personal and fellow Seabee fitness.

Life literally spiraled out of control the past ten years and meeting the minimum physical requirements was tough. I was barely making an arduous 11 minute mile pace, 40 sit ups in 2 minutes and 40 pushups in 2 minutes.   Having a couple of surgeries and an auto crash changed my lifestyle I allowed my fitness to suffer.  A year ago my personal reality of mortality helped me to realize that there must be a better way to achieve fitness and functionality throughout a lifespan.  I was diagnosed with and treated for Type II diabetes.  The reality of daily medications, monitoring my glucose level, and poking myself with a needle 3 times a day I realized something had to be done.   Searching for a quality program and spending bucks and a lot of time at a traditional gym I stumbled onto a gemstone.  As I eavesdropped a conversation of fellow Bees, they spoke of bumper plates and pull-ups all within the same workout, as any tough guy would do I mocked bumper plates and discredited the combination of gymnastic type movements in a workout.  I was kindly encouraged to just give it a try, one try, or be tough and do it a week.  Hooked from the first workout, and realizing I had found the program, and lifestyle that enables functionality throughout life I am posting personal records within CrossFit and my Naval career, I am more fit than when I graduated from boot camp!!!

The reality for me of CrossFit is that my glucose level is always perfect, I do not take medications and even pass the glucose stress test.  I have been able to keep diabetes at bay.  My blood pressure which had soared to a one time high of 160/110 is now 116/69.  Since January, by applying Paleo nutrition guidelines, I have dropped 1/5th of my body weight.  I use a 5days on 2 days off routine, I am faithful to that routine and my lifestyle changes, this program works, and does so in a natural method.  This type of success does not occur by chance, much of the success comes from physiology of fitness, that is achieved through successful programming.  The programming at CrossFit Cache Valley is effectively administered to the fitness needs of everyone who will give it that one week workout.  Your fitness dreams are forged into reality at this box.Phil A.

I have been doing Crossfit now for almost 2 years. And I am STILL loving it! Crossfit has literally changed my life, and I am so excited about those changes. It has touched ever facet of my life. When I started out I had quite a bit of weight to lose. I couldn’t run 200 meters without stopping, I couldn’t do a push up or a pull up and my situps were terrible! I had my body fat measured when I first began and I was at 42.9% (Holy shyte!) That’s how I knew it was time to get to work 🙂  As I worked harder at getting more active, I was encouraged by the fabulous trainers at CVCF to take a look at my eating habits. And as I made the necessary in that department, then I began to see and feel a difference in myself. By my one year mark, I had lost all the weight that I wanted, and I felt great! I could not believe how far Crossfit had brought me in 1 short year. Crossfit has helped me tackle whatever life has thrown my direction and I am so grateful for that. I just had my body fat retested and I am now at 14.3%. I NEVER thought that was possible. It’s amazing what a fantastic work out regiment, great trainers, and a little self control can do! Thanks guys! You’re the best!Holly P.
I just wanted to take a minute and give you some feedback and thank you and Taylor for all that you and CrossFit has done for me.  I have been coming for 7 weeks now and it has literally changed my life.  It was what I needed in my life.  I was in a huge rut.  I was depressed and needed a challenge, something I had complete control over.  This has pushed me so far beyond what I ever thought I was capable of.  I love that it is such a mental thing, which in turn helps me in every aspect of my life.  I like who I am now.  It has made me a better a mom, wife, and person.  I have never been great at the whole self esteem thing and it has helped me sooooo much!  So thank you for pushing me, thank you for taking the time to teach me, thank you for being inspiring.  I tell anyone who will listen about CrossFit.  I tell them it will change their life!  Sincerely, Tami Martin Rigby
I started Crossfit the first of January and I have been loving it!  I love the feeling of accomplishment each time I finish the workout.  It is such a high for me.  I have done several different programs trying to lose weight, get healthy and become more fit so I can enjoy life more with my family.  Some things became very monotonous and burned me out with not much of a change to my body or the way I felt about myself.  The change that Crossfit has made for me has been awesome!  It pushes me to limits that I would have never of thought was possible.  It has made me physically stronger, but more importantly it has made me mentally stronger!  I am grateful to the trainers, to those that I workout with and to my workout buddy who is always teaching me to be strong and endure through it.  I have learned a lot about exercise and nutrition since I’ve joined Crossfit and I look forward to the next challenge!Amanda Wheatley (1st place female winner of the 2010 winter Beauty In Strength Challenge)
My entire life I have struggled with my weight and bad eating habits. Over the past few years due to some health issues and a lot of excuses I had become inactive, miserable, depressed and overweight.  I had tried every fad diet imaginable trying to get the weight off and they just weren’t working.  My self-esteem and health were at an all time low and I was about ready to give up.  Then six months ago I decided to try Crossfit as a last resort. I still remember my first day, that newbie workout proved to me just how out of shape I had become.  I was sitting on the ground trying to catch my breath, watching the class do the daily WOD, and thinking how in the world am I ever going to be able to do that.  I’ll admit it after that first day I seriously considered running not walking out that door and never coming back.  I honestly didn’t think I would ever be able to get through those workouts and would just end up embarrassing myself.  Then Brad and Taylor came over and told me not to worry that everyone had to start somewhere and I would get stronger.  That kind of attitude is one of the things I love most about the Crossfit environment, the trainers and other athletes will always push you to be the best you can be but never once have I ever felt judged or criticized.  That’s why I went back to The Box the next day and the next.  I’m not going to lie it hasn’t been an easy road and it definitely wasn’t a “quick fix”.   But the results have been amazing!  I went from scaled workouts to being able to do the full workouts in decent time.  I have found that I have a competitive athletic side that wants to be the strongest and fastest I can.  Through competitions like the Beauty and Strength Challenge the trainers have helped me change my eating habits so now I’m giving my body the fuel it needs and learning that healthy food can actually be pretty tasty J.   In six months I’ve dropped five pant sizes and countless inches and pounds.  But more importantly my health, attitude and energy level have dramatically improved.  I’m doing things that I never dreamed I would be able to do.  I still have a long way to go and a lot of goals I want to accomplish but I’ve finally found something that works for me. Prior to Crossfit I had always hated exercise and now I’m addicted and can’t imagine my life without it.   So I just want to say Thanks to Brad, Tay and Jack words can’t express how much your training and support has changed my life. Tori Jackson (2nd place female winner of the 2010 winter Beauty In Strength Challenge)
I just want to take a minute to tell Taylor, Brad and Jack how much I appreciate the training they provide and what it has done for me. I joined Crossfit in April 2009. For years I would run for my standard workouts. I would lift occasionally, but never saw results so I stopped. My goal always was to run for 60 minutes on my workout days. At times after running I would have pain in my knees and hips, other times I couldn’t run for more than 30 minutes, and typically ran a 10 minute mile. I joined crossfit and decided to try something different. It worked! As I got stronger and my endurance increased I ran as a supplement to my WODs a couple days a week. I was shocked at how much I’d improved. I was faster and could run much longer, and NO PAIN! I also started losing weight and had muscle definition from doing the WODs, which had never really happened with running. I went from running at the most 6 miles at 10 or 11 minutes to being able to maintain an 8-9 minute mile and run even more miles. I’ve always enjoyed running but wouldn’t ever say that I’m good at it, but now I’m very thankful for the training Crossfit has provided and impressed with my increased efficiency. Thanks guys!Shan K

“I  just wanted to share with you and Taylor as well as Jack how much I appreciate your hard work as  trainers.  I realize it is time consuming for all of you day in and day out motivating us – especially at 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. classes.  But, honestly – without a trainer I know I couldn’t get out of bed 4 times a week at 5:45 a.m. on my own!  I have immensely enjoyed crossfit!  It has been an awesome experience for me for the past 10 months!  I remember the first day of class and Brad asked what I would like to accomplish – I said “to lose my spare tire” J Well, crossfit did lose my spare tire and more!  I have to say, that what I want to accomplish at crossfit now, is to have this amount of energy at 80 years!  I never imagined a program that could motivate me this much and not get bored!  It’s a challenge everyday working out! Not only has this program inspired myself, but my husband and children!” – Georgia R.

“Crossfit is incredible and has positively changed my life.  I’ve been training for about 8 months at Crossfit Cache Valley and have seen amazing results in my level of fitness, the way I feel, as well as in others that I have the pleasure to work out with. Today I set a personal best on the Filthy Fifty and completed this workout in 22:08.  Considering the first time I did this workout was at the end of March it took me 38:16, I would say the proof is in the pudding.  I love the environment, coaches, community and especially the results.” – Paul W. (aka Freak)

Thank you for introducing me to Crossfit.  After I started logging my workouts, I’m amazed of my improvements.  Just to dig deeper, I got my VO2 max and body composition tested today, and I’m rather shocked by the results.

12/3/2007 I was at 48.3 ml/min/kg with long bike rides, runs, some lifting.
2/5/2009 I was at 50.9 ml/min/kg after about 4 months of crossfit.
5/6/2009 I am at 56.4 ml/min/kg after 7 months of crossfit without intensive running or biking.
I’ve also put on 2.3 lbs of lean muscle while maintaining the same body fat percentage.

Crossfit has led me to some serious gains that I wouldn’t be otherwise making. The numbers don’t lie!
Anyhow, I’m sending this as a message rather than a post as to not clog your board. But thanks for providing the workouts and getting me hooked to Crossfit, its changed the way I view fitness.” – Chris G.

I just wanted to let you know that I had double under surgery. (BLADDER SLING) 🙂 It has been six weeks today and after my WOD I tried to do some dbls. Guess what? Surgery was a success! No more peeing my pants while doing dbls, box jumps, thrusters, etc. I tolerated the surgery very well, but I was faithful to recovery and did no exercising while in recovery. At 5 weeks I came back to the box and took it easy, but the hardest part of the process was staying away from my morning family at the box!
    — If this is an embarrassing problem for you, I highly recommend the sling! No more running to the bathroom in the middle of a WOD! Feel free to ask me any questions, I am not afraid to talk about my new addition!!!
